I presume that you are the 'guest' who is also called Lindsay and has a dog called Beau?
And you say there you've had the dog for 1 year 4 months? So i take it, it got pregnant in your care?

and i was trying to find out if she was "accidently" caught by another akita- . or more than likely if it was a mishap something completley different,

Go completely back to basics with your training and don't let her off the lead until you can be sure her recall is steady. With concerted effort this shouldn't take long.

Thank you sooooo much jackyjat

everytime she won't come back run away from her calling her or saying "ok then byebye i will leave you hear"
when she comes back to you make it fun and the let her off again. you say she comes back when she is done, you need to let her know that just becasue you have called her back doesn't mean end of run:D

I tend to walk in the opposite direction when my girl has those 'moments' she's more afraid of being left. I imagine that's not going to work for you so all i can suggest is a horse lunge rein, i used one of those (very sturdy and long) to aid with the recall.
My girl,we used a horse lunge with our Sox and it was great and then when she had progressed she got VERY naughty, poor me out in a park in the pouring rain for 3/4 hr trying to get her back in and not lose my temper, she came back in and Shady( our other pup) lunged at her and she ran away again, but eventually she came in and really you can only praise them, as much as it is killing you inside, and tell them they are SO GOOD!!!!:D

So i shouldnt punish her when she does that? What i mean when i say she is done, is that she goes to play with "boy" dogs and when she has had enough she comes home. Thank you all very much for your responses. It is a lot of good advice.....

Lyndsay personally i don't tell mine off , because if i let her off the lead and have problems then obviously it's my fault because i haven't trained her enough.
(But adolescence that's another matter entirely)

One more thing, i live in mexico rightn ow and when i let her out to pee she usually runs. What do i do at that point. I cant not take her outside. And she has SOooooooooooo much energy.
where in mexico? And why would you punish a dog for finally coming back to you, that is what you wanted, think like a dog!!Sandra.

ABout 50 miles south of the border, La Mision.
Because i would think that she would need to be punished for acting out.
Dogs don't reason like humans. If you tell off a dog whilst it is doing something you dont like it will associate the bad behaviour with whaat ever it was doing. For example if you catch a dog doing a wee inside and you tell it 'bad dog' whist it is doing the wee it will associate being told off with doing a wee inside. However once the dog has finished it will 'forget' about it so if you come in and find that the dog did a wee inside an hour ago whilst you were away you can't tell them off. The dog will probably be greeting you so if you say 'bad dog' they will think they are being told off for saying hello. Similarly when a dog is playing about and won't come back and eventually does they need to be praised for their last action - coming back to you. Ok it wan't the first time you asked, but if you tell them off once they have returned then they will think they were being told off for coming back to you so they will be reluctant to come back the next time you call because they don't want to be told off. As you can see this becomes a viscious circle as the dog refuses to come to you and you get more angry everytime they come back so eventually they just don't bother. You need to prasie the dog EVERY time they come back, no matter what because you have to give them a good reason for wanting to come back.

Well perhaps it's the way you think, that makes her run in the first place then???

Is this a wind up??
Of course you don't tell it off, if i told my daughter off in front of my husband she will go to him everytime,
Your dog is going off just the same, why should it go to you? Your not making yourself a good alternative are you?
If your garden isn't enclosed then put it on a lead to go pee.

meandbeau, When you let the dog out to the toilet and she runs off, what do you do,(ie) follow her, stay at home and wait, the whole situation isn't very clear.
Thanks.

When you bought the dog why didn't you think of these things??
An enclosed garden is simply common sense!!!
Of course your dog is going to run off if it isn't fenced in(AND you aren't watching it)......Hang on who is the boss here? You or the dog?

Seem's like many of your problems, with your bitch can easily be avoided, with a bit of common sense.

Just making a rod for your own back.

OK, everyone seems to be so rude! This is my first time having a dog. Please, if you are going t respond, be kind!!!

Hi,
Have you any books about dogs and dog care? A good book about your breed is always useful. But mostly proper care comes down to common sense. If you don't want your dog to run off, you keep it in an enclosed area (with plenty of room to move freely) when you aren't with it. You
never leave it loose and unattended.
You have to make yourself your dog's best friend - and you have to earn its respect - to make it want to stay near you too. You have to be nicer and more fun than anything ese!

The best for you and the dog is to take it to the vet and get her spayed that way aleast she will not be having pups every six months, because if you dont have this done this is what is going to happen, and then you must think about how you are going to start looking after her, dont just open the front door and let her out put the lead on and take her out dont let her off the lead, if you have a back yard that is fenced put her out there to pee.
