I know I'm going to regret asking this!!!

How do you collect the semen from a stud dog?????  Does the vet do it for you and freeze it (God, I hope so!!!)

give the dog a magazine and send him to the bathroom! :D

Its done by hand (if you know what I mean)
its then frozen :-)

It is then mixed with a protein (Usually egg) and then stored in vials in liquid nitrogen within a cannister.

And yes, it is done by a Vet (one who has the vials and containers on hand)  You do need an in season bitch with you, to get the dog "in the mood";)  When we got a collection from Englebert this summer I ended up having to take Puglet (mini Pug) who was the only in season bitch we had at that time.  Usually at any given time we have a lest 2 or 3 in season between  us!  Englebert was confuse, but obliging, Puglet was downright furious and disgusted - bit both the vet and the nurse!

It is usually beneficial to have a teaser bitch oresent to fascilitate collection.  The vet manually srimulates the dog to ejaculate, the dog may try, and is usually allowed to turn over the persons arm.

You need a vet who has a good sense of humour and does not embarass easily. :D
