Topic Other Boards / Foo / A new virus about?
- By gwen [gb] Date 28.11.03 21:55 UTC
Hi everyone,  anyone heard about a new virus doing the rounds - I vaguely remember seeing a warning posted on a list somewhere, and in the last 2 days have had 8 mails which all looked suspicious.  They all contained an attatchment, 3 said they were from "John" titled "dont be late" and text said he was changing a (none existing) appointment, details contained in attatchment.  3 from "Liz Hiscock" telling me to download attatchment and then send to all my friends, to make a web circle of friends, titled "make ur friends happy".  The first one which came twice I didnt keep details of, but it contained a list of fake designer watches for sale!  Anyone else had them or heard about anything virusy?
bye

I seem to get a lot of emails with no message, only an attachment, or a very short message such as you describe.  I never open attachments unless I know who the email is from.

yes, that is a virus that is doing the rounds. Fortunatly, the attachment is a zip file so as long as you delete it there are no worries.

Thanks Andy,

I knew at the back of my mind I had read something, but couldnt remember.  It is certainly a zip attatchmet which is arriving.  One of the advantages of being a Mac user is that my apple is alittle less suseptible to a viru anyway, but they do worry you, dont the?
bye
