Last night at China's end of month staffie ringcruft comp the judge we had funnily enough picked every black staff for first place. Isnt it supposed to be judged on the way the dog stands and the handler rather than the colour. China's white so i was so happy when she came second ahead of other black dogs in the adult class.
Shes watching this so Well Done Beautiful.

Although I keep gundogs, I have judged a staff club match. Before I judged I made sure I knew the standard as well as anybody could, and I asked lots of advice from top stafford breeders and judges.
All judges are supposed to judge the dogs against the breed standard. The idea is to look at the good points the dog has and not "fault judge" which is looking for the faults. If this judge put up only black staffies then you have to ask yourself are they better? The only time a judge should assess the handler's performance is if the class entered is for handler competence, in which case you could have any type of dog on the lead, as the dog is not being judged.
Well done for getting a second,
regards
Polly

At a recent Champ. show our judge picked a Buff to win every dog class other than Puppy!  Bit more colour variety in Bitches, only about 70% winners were Buff:)  Some judges just cant get beyond a favourite colour.

youve just said she came second in the adult class infront of blacks=====perhaps the judge was judging the dogs   :)    and maybe preffered the construction of the blacks,--------- theyre not meant to share it out-a few red, a few black, -so normally it will seem like one colour did better than the other,!!!!

some judges are colour blind BUT my dad has judged aussies twice when they have had different sex classes.  First time he judged his line up for dogs was full of red merles, the next show his dog line up was all black tris.

Bitches seemd to be a virity but both times mostly blue mearles.  He is not a colour blind judge but thats where he thought the qulity was.

Maybe you should thnk that were the blacks all good qulity and as you say, you beat many blacks with a white!

well done to your bitch anyway!!!:D
