I have always wanted a border collie but am unsure of where to get one from as everyone keeps telling me that they can be snappy with children and always nip ankles! Also is there a difference between a "showbred"border and a farm bred one that is alot cheaper to buy.i have 4 children and a rough collie bitch.

Farm bred collies have a higher work drive so unless you want to work your pup I would go for a show bred one

go to border collie rescue if it's just a pet and see what they have

Look here to contact your nearest BC Club & go & visit some breeders so you can find out more about the breed & where to find a BC with a suitable temperament for you. They are highly intelligent and bred to be highly active, so before buying one think very carefully about whether you have the time to devote to this active breed. I certainly wouldn't consider a farm bred one as a family pet.
