I must admit I had never even thought of this until a friend informed me . I must be much too trusting
But do any (or all)of you put padlocks onto your crates at crufts ??

Must admit it never even crossed my mind !
Maybe we Staffy exhibitors are a trusting lot ?? ;)
As I say it was only when a friend mentiond that due to the amount of visitors to Crufts, we HAD to padlock the cage, that I even thought about it.
Although I was also told about someone about to go in the ring and realised they couldnt find the keys to their padlock and the poor dog was inside still :( They did find them just in time though

I take a 'body guard' with me to Crufts<ggg>
(The body guard being a trusty friend who doesn't mind sitting by the dogs all day)
They guard my dogs when I cannot be at the benches for any reason.
If I didn't have the friend with me, I would most certainly padlock the cages and then pray I didn't loose the key and that we don't have an emergency that means we have to evacuate the buidling!
Yeah but I've been trying to smuggle one of Dizzys' Peis into a carrier bag for months :D :D

Lesley,
Having seen the people around the Stafford cages last year and some of the people who were wandering around I would say padlock and don't leave the cage unwatched.

liberty-----youve no chance :) even if it wasnt locked, youd be spotted stealing casey :D she mugs everyone. , and isnt that easy to "sneak" anywhere, -far best wait until i show fillis, --shes a much calmer dog altogether ,

nope dont padlock a cage. saying that at crufts they are only on benching chains and someone usally stays with them or a friend whos benched close will keep an eye on them.
anyother show then my nan normally sits with them (at crufts she has her electric buggy so go go zooming off over peoples toes!!!!) and cage isnt padlocked, we do trust people!!!

Yes I padlocked my crate at Crufts last year. BUT, I would never leave the cage unattend while a dogs locked in it, I have this fear that they may start choking and no one could get them out! Well you never know it could happen, or am I just over protective?

my flatcoated retrievers are padlocked in the car as well to stop anyone stealing them
