Hi All
what do you do to tell puppies apart when they are all the same
colour and size.

I use different colour rick-rack collars. Some people snip a little bit of fut from a different area on each, and I have even heard of nail varnish being used, although Ithis doesnt appeal to me as it is toxic (I think).

You need to find a number of different colored strings of some sort to tie loosely around their necks. Each color will be that puppy's temp. name, like Orange pup or Red pup. Make sure you record which puppy has which color collar and you'll be able to tell them apart. The thing is though, you need to make sure the collars around their necks are safe in that other puppies won't get their limbs or anything else caught on his brother's collar when they move around. Just make them safe and with different colors and all will be good. :)

Different colour felt-tip pens on the inside of the ears is a good way, but it has to be done every 1-2 days or it wears off. If you weigh them every day though, then its no problem.

What is rick Rac ribbon. I always have this problem with identifying pups. with small litters say two of each sex I can usually tell who is who, if there is a white toe or something. I have had littters where they were impossible to tell apart and did resort to cutting out the fur, but would rather not.

Being dark marker is useless.

I did use wool wioth a piece of elastic on a recent litter. Wrote the ID on the elastic with laundry marker, but eventually they kept geting them off each other.

Zig zag coloured braid that used to be used to trim dresses ;-). Looks like /\/\/\/\ but more rounded. Goodness diagrams I'm impressing myself :-D
