I've got a rather funky puppy lead for Stitch (when I eventually get her) but wandered what sort of lead would be best for showing?

Also what kind of collar do you put on your staffy's? I don't want to 'rough' her fur up wearing the wrong kind of collar and thought you might be able to recommend one for me?

Hello Wishfairy.

Sal wears a flat soft collar during the day for the house. With Staffs there is nothing to hold otherwise no excess skin :D One of those nylonish sort with adjustable size.

For walks and shows and everything else she wears a leather Stafford collar "bitch show collar" which is black leather and has a couple of "Brass studs on plain though compared to a lot.

There are lots of shops selling Stafford collars, and I get mine from a shop where the man actually makes them himself hand-sewn. Better than factory made I think :D

If you can attend any staffie shows, they usually have stalls selling leads, collars etc.

I used a chamois leather to gently rub Bosuns coat, and found it was great for removing hair and creates a lovely sheen too...

Gus doesnt wear one in the house although he has a selection of show leads- black leather with nickel studs and also brass studs.
There are two good suppliers listed on staffords.Co.Uk home page on the right hand side -
A&E Collars and also Hide & Collar .
Both make homemade collars and leads and deliver and they will also make one to your own design too . I have used A&E twice ( once at very short notice which needed to be ready for a show and they got it here on time too :) )and would recommend them - also, Hide & Collar normally attend most Staffy shows . Would also recomend them for quality
