i was looking on the studd section of this site, and found there were no studs of cavaliers in the south of England, and as this is part of the site i was wndering if anybody new of a reputable stuf dog for a ruby bitch, i've been on pleanty of site but i just get confused, and i thought i'd ask the people who know, so if anbody can help me please let me know,

Your bitches breeder is the best person to ask

I also would suggest your bitches breeder as you have stated in the past they only breed whole colours

She is two years old I presume or will be before she will be bred from ? Also you have current eye & heart certificates for her they have to have been done yearly

yes, that has all been done, we would go back to the breeder but we would like one closer, i did find one a while ago but i have lost the name (i thought someone might know the name). Everybody says go back through the breeder but i would like to keep my options open, by looking myself, which i thought was quite fair. so please could anybody help?

We suggest the breeder because that would save you having to do the necessary research on a dog you find yourself. Why not contact the breed club and ask for studs that are within the area you can get to (if there are any) and then when you have the chosen studs pedigree you could send a copy to the bitches breeder and ask what they think of your choice and would it be suitable to cover your bitch.

Looking yourself is fine - as long as you have the knowledge to know what you are looking for. I don't know how much experience of breeding you have, but most peole say ask your breeder because, presumably, they will have more knowledge of the breed than you. I don't think anyone is suggesting that you necessarily use a stud dog owned by your bitch's breeder, but one she would recommend one to you as suitable. Finding the right dog in any breed is a matter not only of finding a promising looking stud, but also knowing what is behind him & whether his breeding is suitable for your bitch. Distance is usually the last thing to be considered.

Well put Anwen, also helpful if you know what the stud is producing, some lovely dogs do not pass it on and the progeny is disappointing.
