I would just like to say a big thank you for the suggestion about water pistols stopping dogs barking. My pup is now 18 weeks old and was barking at everything. I got a travel water spray from Boots for £1.20 filled it with water and squirted her with it when she was barking for no reason and within a couple of days she has got the message. I am so pleased. I didn't squirt her for every little bark just when she was barking for attention. I recommend it to anyone who has a barking pup. It doesn't hurt them and it is a quick cheap solution. Many thanks to all who suggested it.

I also took up the suggestion of giving her a carrot to chew on. That was a result as well. She is certainly getting there and this forum has been invaluable to me.
