Anyone got Fox Terriers? I was just wondering what their temperament was like and whether their constantly on the go.

Cheers

The two wirehared fox terriers that I know are highly strung, temperamental and very very difficult to train as well as being quite snappy. I completely understand this may be due to their upbringing (they are precious children to their owner) but I go to great lengths to avoid them!

I hope others have better experiences.

I've only known one, and he was lovely! Very friendly with people and other dogs. But whether or not that is typical, I couldn't say.

Same again with me I've only meet one and she was gorgeous. Although a little bit like butter wouldn't melt in her mouth when her owners were watching but caused absolute chaos as soon as their back was turned.

But I still think they are lovley dogs, just with attitude;)

Steve,
My mother had three fox terriers (smooth), one after the other. As I remember they were friendly enough and good in the house, no problem with their temperaments, but not really affectionate. But they didn't appear to be very intelligent and were extremely difficult to train, very lively, eager to chase things. Altogether quite a handful. As a labrador owner I didn't find them very appealing.

Hi Steve,

One of my very good friends bred fox terriers, the wire coated variety. They are lively, clever dogs. They were all very friendly and sociable and mixed well with all the other dogs in the house.
