anybody offer any advice ?. i'm getting so fed up with it - it's like straw and with all this damp weather, well, one minute looking ok (ish), the next like a wicker basket !.
any really good products around ?. i've been using that frizz-ease stuff - just wondered if you've got any suggestions.
sorry if it's a bit of a bizarre subject but i'd really appeciate a bit of help. hairdresser is good but he only sees it once every 6 weeks and wouldn't believe the mess it looks this morning !.
oh yes, the first person who tells me to wear a hat gets a thump !!.

I use frizz ease too,are you using the whole range?are you putting it onto wet hair? I found it works really well for me esp.just after a perm!I must admit I put it on everyday after washing my hair.(I use any shampoo and change them regularly)
Maybe another hairdresser is called for,if you get the right style/cut they can 'calm' down frizzy looking hair.
Sorry don't know what else to suggest,I hate hats too! Is your hair naturally curly or wavy, mine is normally dead straight and I hate it,hence the 6monthly perms, although I always op for a herbal soft wave one.

I now what you mean - I can get mine nice and straight and shiny but come any hint of dampness in the air it curls and frizzes at the ends .
I also use the frizz ease range . I use the serum that you put into wet hair straight after shampooing and also a spray that coats the hair before you dry ( have forgotten the name) .
I have found them to be the best . Charles Worthington range also have some decent products

Is it long enough to use straighteners? I use GHD Ceramics on mine - my hair has a "natural wave" which goes all gurly-curly

if I go out in any damp weather....but if I straighten it, it stays straight all day :) They must be ceramics though as they are gentler on the hair and easier to use than standard straighteners :)

thanks for your messages. yes, i do use the frizz-ease serum and spray (i hate having to put in wet hair though, it drips everywhere (usually on my little dog as he always sits and watches !). i had my hair cut on wednesday and the hairdresser used straighteners for the first time. it looked fine until i washed it !. i'm tempted to buy some but i bet i won't have the knack !. i'm actually growing my hair at the moment and he thinks that if i can persevere the weight of the longer hair will stop it being so 'springy' !. in the meantime - eeek !.
why does hair look so sleek and shiny after they dry it ?!!!

It depends which straighteners you get - the more commercial ones are heavy and thick and hard to manage. You need ones like GHD (Good Hair Day) which are thinner and easier to manage. I have 2 left hands but I can do it and I love my hair now :)

Eddy my hair is very long and thick but it still frizzes :(
What I used to do after washing it in the evening was to comb in the conditioner, french plait my hair, sleep in it and then undo the plait next morning and just run my fingers through it.
Wonderful sleek hair until the first hint of moisture in the air ...
or.... more drastically....
Have it chopped off like I did and then no one recognises you...

those straightners are perfect, i have very long hair, with a curl, ghd are great, expensive but do the job. I put curl activator on if i want it very curly, and it has a oil in it, it is for black people but great on white people too, and keeps the hair shiny.

somthing to help keep your hair smooth and straight is wella's 'smooth and curl'. you have to apply to wet hair, and you must dry your hair straight away (you can just blast it- if you have some straightners to finish off with) its great stuff! as it says 'smooth and curl' you can straighten curly with it and it stays put till next shampoo OR if you have a bit of wave in it scrunch dry and it looks like you have had a perm.you can only buy this from a salon, but if you go to salonsdirect.com they let you buy proff hair products at almost the same price as the salons buy for.Even though it is ment for human hair there are loads of things for sale that will help keep your doggies looking pukka !!!(scissors, clippers, water sprays ect) ,but dont tell your hairdresser i told you about salondirect you can usually buy straightners for about £12 less. mand x

AAAAARRRRGGGGG I hate this post ~ sooo BOASTFUL

You should all try living with hair thats fine and straight, goes greasy within an hour and still flyaway at the ends in this weather and won't hold a bend let alone a curl. :( and NO product will work on that!!
Dill ~ wanting to shave her head but lacking the courage

I'm with you on this one, Dill. :(
Hair with a life of its own?
Wonderful!!

My GHD straightners were the best £95 ive ever spent, they just dont compare to any cheaper ones (and believe me ive used so many different cheaper ones !!) Its advisable to use some sort of product before straightning such as iron oil as they will dry your hair out over time.

I have got longish frizzy red hair and use to try and straighten the frizz out. And like yours it goes horrid when its raining. In the end I gave up trying to get the curl out and now use Shock Waves products to enhance the curls instead. If it gets damp in the rain as long as I don't touch it until it is fully dried out it seems to hold out to looking half decent.

I use the Fructis Intense Anti-Split Ends serum, and Vidal Sassoon, ceramic straighteners. I find this serum gives my hair a lovely sleek, smooth and shiny finish....especially when I use the straighteners. I'm also growing my hair, so mainly tie it up during the day, but love my straighteners when going out. :D
With the straighteners, practise makes perfect :) If I can do it, anyone can :D And it's true, the ceramic ones are really kinder on your hair, as I used the other type a coupla years ago, and they really dried out my hair badly. I use the "Aussie" range of shampoo's and conditioners, and they are brilliant. Now my hair is in lovely condition.
Don't we sound like the 'adverts' ?? lol
