My newly whelped bitch had a Synulox injection for Mastitis four and a half weeks ago. The vet said the injection may cause a lump. Three weks ago she develpoed a hard lump the size of a large grape at the injection site.Anyone had any experience of this and how long until it goes. I do massage it and it softens and reduces only to come up again.
Thanks Diane

No not know it happen but if the vet suggested it may happen I guess it is not uncommon. Think you are doing all you can and I can't help at all, sorry, but it is a well used drug and I have found it very good.

This always happens with my Dobes and one bitch eventually gets a discharge a couple of inches down from the lump but I have never had, or heard of this happening with any others. The lump can last up to 8 weeks before it eventually disappears

You can ask for the injection to be given IM into the back leg which I now always do, I am told it is possible it will sting a little as it goes in but it does not result in a lump and none of mine have ever flinched when being given it.

Thanks for the advice. The lump is smaller now and has split into two.I will ask for it IM in the leg in future.
