Heres a feelgood story just when you thought the world was full of callous/irresponsible owners. Man up the road has a lovely natured 6 year old GSD diagnosed with arthritis at 15 months, and advised to be Pts by vet after throwing loads of cash at the problem. So he changed vets, got the medication reviewed, and carried on adapting life to his GSD. The dog needs lots of short ( 10 minute walks) so he gets taken in the car to a park, throws the rubber ring and plays with his pal dog ( bought to keep the GSD company) then home. Recently his arthritis flared and I saw this man carrying his dog to the car. Today the GSD trotted over to Morse to play, and I could have illuminated a house with this mans smile. What a wonderful achievement giving this dog a quality life and such a kind brave dog despite his pain. Only love could give the strength to lift a GSD.

That's really lovely Lorelai, it's so nice to hear the good stories now and then. What a lucky GSD.

My GSD of 6yrs is going down the same road too and she now has a 7 month play mate which certainly brings out a bit of the puppy in her.

When my first GSD was six months old a vet told me to have her PTS because of arthritis (displaysia). I finally had to -- but she was very close to her 13th birthday by that time.
