These may sound silly questions but what do you need to take with you when picking up a new puppy. The drive is approx 2.5 hours. I am guessing a blanket to put in crate, water and what about food?

Only going to look at pups this Saturday but will I look really silly if I take a long my camera?

Thanks

hi,
You must take your camera & you won't look silly. :)
For puppy's journey - Take water & a water bowl. A blanket for your crate. Take plenty of kitchen roll & or newspaper, a couple of carrier bags, a spare blanket & a towel. ( probably won't need them, but if pup is sick at least you'll be prepared) I wouldn't take food. Your pup won't need to be fed on a 2 and half hour journey, even if you get big hold ups, puppy will be fine, just may need a drink & perhaps a little toy for puppy to snuggle up to.

Hope this helps.:)

Hi
Snoopy has covered pretty much eveything to take with you when you collect pup :)
You wont look silly with a camera. We took one when we went to see Gus and the photos make priceless memories as you can take pics of the pup with the rest of the litter and with mum. :D
No decent breeder will mind and will probably expect it :)
A decent breeder will also have made sure pup isnt fed too near his/her departure time to prevent him being sick on the journey to his new home

You must take your camera, if you haven't already got a photo of Mum make sure you take one, you will need it for your 'baby album'

Definately kitchen roll and a pack of baby wipes incase of an accident or sickness. Don't panic if he/she doesn't eat when you get home, they often take a little while before they do. I usually give a little scrambled egg on the first day, keeps the diet light but tempting.

Good Luck, you must be so excited

I took my camera on my one and only visit before i brought Buddy home. I also took a blanket to leave with the breeder so Buddy would have familiar smells to comfort him in his new home. Breeder did not feed him before journey incase he was sick or became queesy. I was armed with allsorts for every possible event but he had a great journey (approx 2hours) home. He just kept trying to climb up me to get a better look out of the window. Ahh it was a great day as i'd wanted him for so long. Unfortunately the pictures i took with a digital camera which i downloaded were all lost when i had a computer crash last year. I stupidly did not make copies. Lesson learned there.
Good luck with your pup.

Hiya, I would just echo what the other guys have said - definitly take your camera along - you'll regret it, if you don't. When we went to see Diesel, I was snap happy :D anything that moved I took a piccie of it :)
But there great to look at especially when you'll have another few weeks to wait till you bring them home :)
When we brought Diesel home, we took along everything that's been mentioned and he ended up sleeping on a doubled up beach towel, cuddled into me, on the back seat. We had a few toilet stops and let him stretch his legs a little, but the rest of the time he slept like a baby, and we had a 7.5hour drive home  but boy was he worth it :) Good Luck and enjoy.
