Does this collar work when a dog howls like a wolf ?My dog has been howling when I leave the house and it is now stressful and I worry every time I leave.Tried a kong with treats inside but he starts howling once he gets bored with it..

I'd advise trying other methods before resorting to an Aboitstop collar - most of the time the dog simply needs training to accept being alone, rather than punishment.

I have to say i agree here - if the dog is howling it doesn't want to be left, so you need to address this anxiety. There is a chance that if you do stop the howling with the Aboistop, the dog's distress may redirect onto chewing or messing. It is of course difficult if say you work full time as you will not have the opportunity to re-train slowly :( so if i were you i would consider getting a vet referral to a reputable behaviourist who can discuss a behavioural modification programme with you.

There are all sorts of things that may help - many are using the dog appeasing pheromone units now (DAP) which seems to have a very helpful effect on anxoius dogs. I was very pleased with the effect mine had on my dog over the firework season :)

There are also signs you can condition them to, so they can learn to accept owners leaving, but these are best introduced with professional help.
