My colleague at work asked me yesterday if I knew why his 5 month old springer pup was so smelly! He has had other dogs before but this one is whiffy - wet dog whiffy - rather than from the back end! His ears are fine and he looks a lovely healthy puppy to me but apparently from a very young age when most of them smell that lovely puppy smell, he was a bit pongy.
Any suggestions guys?

i had the exact same problem with my Cocker and whilst a lot of people say that spaniles do have their own little whiff going on :) i didn't buy it and took him to a professional groomer who gave him a jolly good bath, he came back smelling lovely and has never got that whiffy since, over 6 weeks ago!
I also have devised a 'perfume' conditioner for him by using a diluted herbal essence, fruit fusions conditioner in with water in a spray gun, i use it on him when he a bit damp to condition him and then rinse off, he always smells lovely and his skin is perfect!

You can buy a biodegradable deodorant from the vets called pet fresh , its about £5.50 and you can use it directly on the dog or in its bed , etc.Think Animal Health makes the product.
