forgive my ignorance, i know breeding is no walk in the park, but is their a certain meduim to large sized breed, which is thought to be easier to breed (ie produce quality pups, not many problems through pregnancy) than other breeds?

its just i hope to breed dogs in the near future and want to start of with a easy breed.

Sorry, but I don't know of one that's 'easy'. There are many that are harder than usual, though. You just have to concentrate on a breed you like, and do lots and lots of research, to stand any reasonable chance of success.

its really not the way of doing it---breeding should come a long way after finding your chosen breed-researching it-learning about it, perhaps showing it and making sure its worth breeding from ----- then maybe a good few years down the line, if all is well, and you have a really good healthy bitch-then think perhaps about having a litter-------by then you might know which lines will suit your bitch etc-----as surely the only reason to breed is to try and improve, or at least breed typical pups., NOT :( ask which breed is easiest to rear-whelp etc. ---not sure what that would come under .

Have to agree with JG and Dizzy.

there are no 'easy' breeds.

Breeding is difficult, it's a lot of hard work. There are some breeds that are known to whelp easier than others, but even then, there are no guarantees.

What Dizzy said is right....it's not a case of which breed is 'easier' it's a case of finding your breed...and learning as much as you can about that breed.
I think showing is very important. You will get an idea of how good your dog is compared to lots of others. If your dog/bitch does consistently well..then is the time to think about breeding, but even then, it's not something to go into lightly. There is a lot of research to be done. Which dog compliments your bitches lines the best etc? and that's only the start.
Breeding can cost a lot of money, and you're highly unlikey to make any profit, not that I'm suggesting that's why you want to do it. But some people do, and they don't realise the amount of work that goes in to breeding and rearing a good, healthy litter of puppies.

I am no expert, my first litter was born in June this year, but I did a lot of research, and I had a very good bitch. I also had the breeder of the bitch helping me out.

Take care

Lisa

Why do you want to breed? Clearly you aren't interested in furthering the lines of a certain breed, so why breed? If it is to make money, please, if you are a dog lover. don't.

Agree with the fact that you should know all about your breed first,we have had akitas for nearly 7 years and only bred for the first time during the summer as you have to know everything about your dogs, their natures the standards do your dogs match up etc, very important, sandra.Don't just jump in to this, pick a breed you genuinely like and admire and be patient!!!!

my life is dogs, i love them to the moon and back, my dream is to breed them one day, i want to breed retrievers with impeccable temperment and first class health, its nothing to do with money. im not like that.

im quite a scientist and would love to research and eliminate cancer in the f/c as this is my second fave breed :)

I would suggest guppys. They are easy enough to keep in a medium sized tank & will breed prolifically and easily without much input from the owner.

OHHH blow how did I miss a potential customer for my gremlins :-0

No experience needed you just add water and they multiply
dont feed them after midnight though, you only need one though so not a lot of outlay ;-)
