Hello
Just finished bathing a dog that has come into my care through the local vets, i was at they vets tonight with two of my bullies, and there was a lady and a gentleman sitting next to me waiting to get called in by the vet with their springer spaniel, they commented on my two bullies and asked what they were seeing the vet for (which was nothing major), and they went on to tell me that they had brought their dog in to be pts, i asked why as she looked perfectly healthy, and they replied "one more litter could possibly kill her, we were warned by the vet not to breed her again, but our male caught her 5 weeks ago now and we couldnt afford treatment for her if anything goes wrong" i asked why they didnt bring her in when they realized that their other dog had caught her to have the morning after jab, and the reply i got was "we couldnt afford that really either", i had to resist blowing my top as my first concern was for the poor dog that they had, i asked them if they would mind me having her on the proviso that i get her spayed and aborted the puppies at the same time, and they said i could have her and handed her lead to me and signed her over there and then.
I have had to bath her as she really smelt awful, i have had to trim her ears as they were so very matted, plus when checked by the vet she also had an ear infection, he said there is nothing physically wrong with her hes treated "Suzi" from a puppy, but he did say, "the poor dog has had an awful lot of litters and does really need spaying".
I have booked her in for Thursday and while she under shes going to have her ears cleaned as well, so for Suzi, im afraid it will be a big day, but hopefully if all goes well, its an end to her misery.

I've read some of your other posts and I admire your total commitment to all dogs and not just your own. In your position on that day at your vets I would have loved to have done the same, however, I am not able to have more than one dog. I did rescue my dog though and hopefully it's one less to have possibly been pts. I really get cross with people that have pets and "can't afford the vets bills". Surely surely that should be one of the first considerations?? I know there's a lot of people like that out there but if you have pets then you have to make sacrifices. Let us know how it all goes, I would be interested to hear.

You amaze me! You even refer to this couple as "a lady and a gentleman" - hardly the description most other people here would give. You have a heart of gold.

Hello
The thing that really amazed me is that when i had finished bathing her, i dried her off with a towel and she went straight into the kitchen where the fire is on and got into the dog crate with our "Sevi" the dog crate is always open, the door is never closed on it, but when certain dogs of mine seem to be sulking they go and lie in it, sometimes i wake up and have find as many as five dogs in there all lying happily together snoring as if they had not got a care in the world.
Shes a bit nervy, but thats to be expected she dont know me, i dont know how dogs think but she seemed to find great comfort in that there are other dogs here, and in time i know i will have to find her another home, but i couldnt sit there knowing that she was going to be pts and do nothing.
Looking at her now, and apart from the nerves she seems perfectly contented, she dont seem worried about the other dogs, and i dont think that shes ever seen a cat, or knows what they are, she been over towards me twice whilst i was feeding the kittens, and she kept trying to pick them up in her mouth and get them off me, i know she will settle down a bit given time.
She will be fine, i would like to attach some photos of her and of some of my other dogs, but i wouldnt know where to start, or where to put them so all of you could see her.
I dont know much about springers, but shes a pretty looking girl, once some of the dirt was cleared from her.
