also squeeze a dairylea triangle in there with chunks of salami or whatever else you have, i find the dairylea makes the other treats stick in theire longer and the dog spends AGES trying to get the last bit of it from inside! ;)
I gave my 6month Lab pup a 'kong' toy which had a rope attached to it, thinking that kongs were pretty much indestructible I left him playing with it, when I went back to him just 10mins later he had got the rope off and had swallowed 3/4 of it and was trying to swallow the last bit ! It could have been a very different story had I left him any longer. I now only use the giant black ones for all of my Labs which I am pleased to say is still in one peice. So beware, I was stupid and just thank god that I was with him.

I think you have to make sure the size of the kong is relevant to the size of your dog ;)
In my training book, it recommends peanut butter mixed with kibble

I read the Kong site the other day and it does say on there that the rope kongs and such like are not for constant play or chewing, but for retrieval work/games (I think they said not to give them as a chew toy as theyre not indestructable). The ones that are indestructable are the fillable chew Kongs - the black ones being tougher than the red :)

they are great though i could watch them for hours so its a shame its only 5 mins..lol..anyway got some new tips from you all so ill give them a go thanks ..
Yes mine can empty a kong very quickly too whatever I put in the layers so Im going to try freezing it!

5 minutes!! More like 30 seconds. Obviously I'm making it too easy for him. I just got a Kong for my dog and wow! He loves it. Well loves it probably cos it's got goodies in it. But he's pretty damn smart at getting them all out in record breaking time. He's fascinating to watch, bites out the top ones. Paw flips the middle ones and bounces out the rest round the carpet with a few air throws in between. So now I try freezing. Watch this space!!

Try using liver sausage or pâté along with kibbles or mixer.
