Hey Which one is better... Long Haired Chihuahua or smooth coat Chihuahua? Which one is cheaper?( Not worried about that much but just wondering) Which one sheds more? Is there any behavior differences? Are Chihuahuas are to housebreak? Are they very yappy? Do they make good companions? I am thinking about getting a Chihuahua and I need to know the basics. I already have a Toy Poodle... will they get along?

Hi,

Chihuahua's can be a specialist breed because of their size and VERY fragile skulls. I would suggest you do some research with breeders and owners of both long coated and short coated and see if they know of any specific differences.

Hi,

Long haired and short haired are recognised as 2 seperate breeds in the uk, but america sees them as the same, the only difference is obviously the coat.
Suprisingly the short haired malts more than long, they both require grooming though, most chihuahuas do not get along all that great with different breeds they prefer there own breed or cats to others, but I upose it depends what your poodles like, they both are about the same price, sometimes short more expensive, in england the short is more fahionable at the moment (due to the film legally blonde) but in the us they prefer the long, its all about taste, I prefer the long, but I also prefer chihuahua boys as they are more loving ( I think).

personally i prefer short haired chihuahuas.
a friend of mine had a male long haired chihuahua and he was exceptionally clean and not at all yappy. i guess they're all different though and it's probably a case of how they are raised, as with all other breeds.
