just wondered if in the experienced breeders thought that after two whelps or three whelps should be the limit on a bitch as my springer bitch brandy has had her second and i am thinking that this is enough now but have been given mixed directions on this.

Personally, I would say there is no hard and fast rule. I would decide by the size of the litters, the age of the bitch, and the bitches personallity - some are born mothers, others are not. I certainly would not rule out a third litter from my girl if her "perfect" dog came on the scene. Having said that, I would not be heartbroken to stop at two litters from her if I don't find another stud which I think could help her to produce puppies even better than she's already had.

personally i would only have 2 litters from a bitch but if that special dog came along for her then maybebut the only rule is not to breed from a bitch over the age of 8 without KC "go ahead" (didn't know how else to put it.)
