In June myself and my husband went to view a litter of pups, we picked out the one that we wanted and left a deposit...
It was 2 weeks later when we went to pick up our 'Beau'
When we got there, the breeder had bathed the pup and was drying her off. I looked at the pup and thought its not the right one!
I said to the breeder 'its not the right one, the one i wanted was a fawn and white in colour while this bitch was red and white. She said oh its because shes just been bathed!!
Off and on ive always said it was the wrong pup, but guess i trusted the breeder. (who may i add said there was NO FAWN PUP!!
Today... i was reading the breed records supplement.. and there the pup is 'fawn and white' bitch!
While i love our pup to bits it wasnt the pup that picked us!!!
Any ideas on what i can do apart from spend many happy days with beau?

Thanks
Donna and charliex
I did have a receipt for the deposit but it doesnt say the colour of the pup.

I think you've answered your own question I'm afraid. You've got your pup and by the sounds of it someone else has got your pup.

but I would be very surprised if there was anything you could do

The breeder has the final say in where the puppies go and you've got no proof which puppy you reserved. Its your word against theres

Just enjoy the pup you have got!!! :)

Its a shame when things like that happen coz although you will obviously love your dog whatever youll always be aware it wasnt the one you picked but i agree, just love the pup you got and hope that the one you picked is in a loving home to.

God, what a horrible thing to happen. I feel so sorry for you. Its such a shame because you are always going to know that it isnt the right one. I wish you the best of luck though.

Hi Donna,
Nothing to do now but enjoy the puppy you have got, and just be glad you have her! For all you know, the one you've got might actually end up the better one in temperament or whatever. If you desperately wanted the fawn colouring, I would try and look for that next time then. My experience is that with our first puppy in '97, I was able to pick any from the litter, (and did get the right one!), but he turned out to have an aggression streak and didn't like people (besides myself!). The dog I have now (19 months), was the last one left in the litter, nobody wanted him - but he has grown up into the most wonderful dog - loves everybody he meets, including kids, loves other dogs, is really intelligent, and to be honest I now think I'll be lucky to have such a dog again, and though he's not like top show quality or anything, I wouldn't swap him for the world!!

Hi all,
Thanks for your comments- i knew deep down there was nothing i could do and to be honest i love the one ive got. (only far from being fawn and white!) The one i have is a little corker- shes already bought so much fun and laughter into our home. Charlie adores her- im sure he thinks he's her mom!
I will always wonder what happened to the other pup, but im happy with beau now. I, guess i learnt a hard lesson about trust!

Once again thank you for your comments.

Hilda- its always the way usually the last to be picked is the best :)

Hiya
Yes mine was last in the litter, if I had had the choice I would have probably gone for the other bitch. But now I am so pleased I didn't my pup probably won't do as well as her sis in the show ring as she is a bit too strong. But she has the best temperamnent I could ever have hoped for. She is an agle too and hasn't put a foot wrong. So extrovert.

Aww im sorry you breeder cheated you. she really shouldent have tricked you into beliveing you were going to get the dog you picked.when you never at all:(
Ok she should have the first pick of litter but letting you leave with that pup in your mind is bad. my thoughts on breeders like these are i would have gone else where. her word wasent true when you came to pick up the pup .if a breeder has to lie to sell there pups how do you know the information she gave you was true too.Tests?
Anyway dispite this im glad you love your little pup , sad that you feel strongly that you have to post a message but your not alone a few people post every so often with the same problem.
im afraid all breeders will get bad rep for this if it carrys on ive had lots of emails sent to me on this subject from other forums i really feel for them:( some of which have got health problems. hopefuly soon there will be something people like yourself can do in time to come.
But im so glad yours is happy and healthy .:)good luck with training:)

Yes I too had the same thing happen to me with my goldie, but I'm glad to say that she was the sweetest thing in this world! She never wondered away from my side - even with the front gate left open! And she loved to talk back to me (doggie talk) when I would chat to her. Wouldn't have changed her for the world. She is now sadly missed - she's gone to meet her maker.

Aww jolanta :(
Im glad your dog became your best friend!
I think Beau will prove to be a little star... shes a charater and a half!
I just really, posted originally wondering how many people this had happened to.... How an earth can this woman call herself a breeder when she play such low tricks on people??
She was recommended to me!
Oh well, it doesnt matter now.... im happy with beau!

Well next time you see your freinds/family let them know what went on with this "breeder"theres no better way of recomending people then this way . but this time un recommend this lady:) people will rember when a freind of the freind says ooo im looking for a puppy:P not only that the person looking will be on there toes ready to pick out a good breeder:)

When i went to pick out my puppy last saturday the breeder asked me to pose for a picture with my puppy so that there would be no confusion over which one i had picked. He takes a digital snap of each owner with the puppy they have chosen and keeps it with the details (pedigree name, colours etc) which i think is a really good thing! We also took lots of pictures and video of our little baby, but she has very distinctive markings compared to her brothers and sisters, so there won't be any confusion anyway.
