I have a Staffordshire Bull Terrier and she is currently six weeks pregnant.
This last week she seems to be having very strange dreams whilst asleep she seems to be whinning a lot and i even seen her licking her lips and thinking she is eating.
Like all dogs do she did occasionally dream like this before but know its like every time she goes to sleep.
Is this normal, and could it have anything to do with her being pregnant??

Hello
Some of my dogs have strange dreams, but none of them are pregnant :D mine lie in front of the fire with their feet twitching and sometimes they seem to think they are sucking on something, its something that most dogs do.

hi my sbt is 4 wks pregnant, and she has always had funny dreams, sometime she even makes a suckling noise,as if she were still a pup suckling on mum,she makes lots of whinny noises, her feet twitch, tail waggs ect i'd love to get in side her head to see what shes dreaming about.
you probably twitch, snore, talk, grind teeth, eat in your sleep its completly natural and nothing to do with her pregnancy, you are probably paying more attention to what she is doing because shes pregnant, its nothing to worry about
good luck with the rest of the pregnancy and just enjoy it! :)

Mine does all of those things too and she's never been pregnant. I've always wondered if other dogs did it as my last one didn't seem to, though I was busy with small kiddies then so perhaps I just didn't notice. :)

Purdey - our 13&half year old lab is the funniest of all - she still sticks her tongue out & sucks as if she is still suckling :D!
Since she hasn't been so active, she also dreams of chasing & catching rabbits, we reckon - her legs are going, she gives little "wuffs" of excitement! Eventually, we give her a little "whistle" & call her home - she opens one eye and then sighs - it was all a dream!!!

Hi Guest, My retreiver Baillie and my Dane puppy, Diesel both have strange dreams, they both run, twitch, cry - It's quite amusing - although I have to say that Diesel also snores and farts loudly :D in his sleep, which isn't so amusing :D
