I am seven years old and have wanted a puppy since I was 3. I am a very outgoing girl and am friends with all the neighborhood dogs. My Mom and Dad want a dog that is great with children and not too big or sheds or too much work. Can you recommend a breed that might be good for me? I like Cavalier King Charles' and small white dogs too.

I think if you are just starting out in dogs then a Cavalier King Chrles would fit the bill. A miniature Poodle would also be a good one to have but there is considerably more grooming required.

I think a Cavalier King Charles would be a really good choice - they always seem to be lovely friendly dogs. If my daughter wanted a dog, I would go for that.

I agree, although i have bull breeds now i had Cavaliers when i was young and their truly fantastic dogs and they seem to fit what your looking for, when you say white dogs a couple i can think of are Maltese, Bolognese and Coton De tulear, all three making good pets for small children.

I think its GREAT that your mum and dad want you to have a dog! A cavalier would be great....just the right temperament and size for you. I wanted a dog when I was your age....I didnt get one till I was 35! Lucky you! Take a look at the discover dogs section of the Kennel Club Website......That tells you what sort of dogs are good with kids, how much grooming, how much food, how much walking...for every breed you could think of. :) http://www.the-kennel-club.org.uk click on "breeds" it will gve you groups to look at!
