I live in Sweden and dont know the fair price for a Staffordshire Bull Terrier i UK. I was told by a breeder in UK that i would have to pay £ 900 for a male-puppy 12 weeks old that would do good in a show-ring. Do you think thats a fair price?

regards from Miklas.

£900 is a little bit on the high side, i would say that if you are looking for a good dog puppy from a good breeder that has done all the teat and has used good show stock you will prouble pay about £500 or less,

and sorry but i would think twice about buying a show puppy as in Staffords there is no such thing, yes you can get a very nice dog with good potenshall but as a puppy no one can say if it is a show winner as so much can go wrong. (Like mouth can be fine as a puppy but can grow wrong, a ear might not fold right ((LOL))) so it is never said to be a show puppy until it is doing well in shows.

i would go and see a few litter's and ones you have decided what litter you want your puppy out of them pick the one that is intrested in you, pick the one that catches your eye, check him over and if all is well at that time then have him(he might have show protentall-he might not but you got one you like), and he might then turn out to be the best in the bunch.

A lot of Stafford have been sold as the runt or the less likley to do good in show and they have proven ever body wrong, chouse the puppy that you like (tou never now)

Miklas, I know puppies sent away appear to be far more than a puppy bought if you were living in england or Ireland .I dont know how much the breeder charges for a pup but, you must take in to consideration the vacinations . the vets fees , the export certificate of health the rabies jab , the tattoo , all this is extra, . also most puppies are gone to their new homes by eight weeks , so that is an extra 4 weeks of feeding and cleaning.and petrol costs for trips to vet and to airport. and an air crate for puppy which alone would cost £70 I would think that would be a reasonable price. even if you have to foot bill for export. mari

I am sending Lancashire Heelers to Finland
and the netherlands. They have much the same
problems as staffs regarding mouth and ears.
I have to choose show stock for these people
but they understand what could go wrong.
They have no choice really. The main thing is to
buy into a good line which I am sure they are more interested in for breeding own stock. £900 is
ok if seller is paying vaccs rabies etc. If not this
is excessive.
