i have a problem.I have a bitch who is slightly smaller than the breed standard but would love dearly to breed her.Shes nearly three and we tried to mate her on her last heat but the height difference seemed to be the problem.it was a good heat and good swelling but the male tried for days without any luck.Shes just came into season again on mon and i would dearly like to achieve a mating.any suggestions.

How much smaller is slightly smaller & has the dog been used before?

maybe one centimetre or at the most two.stud dog has been used ten times or more.he tried over four days with no avail.dont know how to get round this problem have tried standing bitch on various things with no success.stud very keen both dogs were exhausted.

We tried that on her previous season but she seemed to resent the interference and clamped up.so we just left them alone and hope for the best without results.We want to hopefully acheive a pregnancy this time.

Shouldn't think the height difference is very relevant in that case, my breed quite often has a fairly big height variation & the dogs always seem to manage.
Have you had the bitch checked by a vet? She could have a stricture in the vulva/vaginal area.

The problem was the male didnt seem to get down to the bitch to try and enter,maybe it is a problem with the bitch i will maybe pop her down to the vet to get her checked out by the vet.by the way does anyone know where to get this book the bible?
