I was forwarded this email from at work from Warwickshire Police, and asked to pass it on.

About a month ago, in Nottingham, a woman had finished her shopping and returned to her car, to discover she had a flat tyre. She got the jack out of the boot and began to change the wheel. A nice man dressed in a business suit and carrying a briefcase approached her and offered tohelp. She gratefully accepted, the wheel was duly changed, and the man replaced the jack and wheel in the boot. He then asked if the woman could give him a lift to the other side of the shopping centre because he was now running late.

The woman felt uneasy, especially as the man then put his briefcase in the boot and shut the lid. She 'remembered' one more thing she had to buy, and asked the man to wait while she got it - she would only be a few minutes. She hurried into the shopping centre and told a security guard, who returned to the car with her, but the man had gone. She took his briefcase to the police station, where it was opened to look for ID.

It contained rope, duct tape and knives.

The police checked her flat tyre, and found nothing wrong - it had simply been deflated.

Funnily enough, this exact same story was circulated yonks ago in our area, though this time the incident was meant to have happened in the Asda carpark in Gloucester. But no such incident ever took place according to the local police [$ since then I've seen the same hoaxes/rumours being circulated naming various towns & cities here & in the USA/Canada. Maybe this warning is genuine or maybe Warks police have made a mistake - wonder if anyone who takes the Nottingham evening paper remembers it as if it happened, it would certainly have been published in the local news ]-)

when it was reported here in glasgow.
It was also supposed to be an asda carpark.
turned out to be a hoax also.
Is a very scarey story though.

Found this page about a similar rumour dating from 1998 :http://urbanlegends.about.com/library/weekly/aa072998.htm It is a scary story as it plays on our fears of being attacked by strangers even though this happens very rarely.

Sorry if this sounds stupid but why did he put the brief case in the boot of the car if this nutter was planning to torture her (or whatever these psychos think of)? It just seems strange to me... Thank god that woman had the sense to get someone.

It's funny, but I heard this a couple of years ago, from a good friend, who I was working with at the time.

Don't get me wrong...I understand that stories go around.....but this is exactly what my friend told me....it worried me then, and it worries me now.

This girl I worked with is a family friend, and this happened to a friend of hers.
It's horrible, and it feels weird that I heard this so long ago.  It happened in Solihull...One of the car parks there.

I've also heard this story but it was at Meadowhall, Sheffield, and if I'm not mistaken did'nt someone put a warning on CD a few weeks ago also about this same story, but I can't remember where.
