Topic Dog Boards / Breeding / Abortion??

Hello,
Our BC bitch came in to season in the middle of September. We are not aware that our other BC got to her as we kept them separated, but there is a tiny chance that they could have. We were planning to get her spayed in December as did not wish for her to have a litter. However she is now starting to produce milk. We are booking a vets appointment today, but we are not sure of what the options are. Is it too late to get her spayed if she is pregnant? What are the chances of her having a false pregnancy?

I'm told that all bitches have a phantom to a greater or lesser degree after every season. With some it's barely noticeable - a little moodiness perhaps - with others going the whole hog, nesting and producing loads of milk. It can be risky to the bitch to spay her at this time due to the increased uterine blood supply and high hormonal activity.

If she was mated at the end of September (you say she came into season in the middle) she would be due to whelp at the end of this month. Why not get her scanned and know for sure?
