My dog is walking round alot, shaking and panting quite a lote, does anyone know if this is the first signs, and roughly how long this usually last before the actual birthing begins.

Sounds as if she`s on her way.....Good Luck.Have you got anyone to help or advise you?Have you let your vet know she`s due?This stage can take quite a long time.Big contractions can last for an hour or so but if no puppy has arrived by then, I would contact the vet.....if you have it The Book of the Bitch is invaluable.........Fingers crossed for you Both.Will keep checking this post.Gail

My bitch had the same symptoms for about 24 hours before she actually gave birth. It was my first time as well as hers so phoned the vet who said it was quite normal only need to worry if there is a long gap between pups being born.
