Greetings from South Africa, My name is Cathy and i have a male staffie of 1 year and female of about 6 months. I do not want pups right now, but Stich, the female, is now on heat.

It is 2 weeks now since first day of discharging blood. My question is how long will she still be on heat?, when will she go on heat again? What is the process of the female cycle?

I have no idea of when to let her out of the house again, to be safe for playing with Storm (male), without me worrying about her falling pregnant.
Please advise.

its roughly around 3wks although mating around the 13th day from the first day of bleeding can result in lots of puppies,you can order a book off the internet called the 'book of the bitch' it tells you in detail each stage of the female cycle and all other aspects of owning a bitch.:)
