We are looking for a dog. I am allergic to anything that moults and have been limited to Bichon Frise and Poodles (although I have enjoyed both of these breeds very much). Someone has told me that the Havanese does not moult. I don't know anything about it and would like to learn. Where can I find a picture??

Many thanks,

Vanessa

I understand that Bedlington terriers and schnauzers don't moult either. Have you considered those?

I have 2 bedlingtons and they are a non moulting breed.
Brilliant temprament and a joy to live with.
But then I'm biased.
Sorry don't know anything about the havanese.
Regards,
Linda :-)

I believe they are related to the bichon and the bolognese (sp?), and are a relatively new breed to this country. I found this website whilst browsing http://www.wybnella.co.uk/ (sorry cant do links :( ) try typing in Bichon Havanese into a search engine, loads of websites come up (unfortunately I couldnt look at them because of my works "firewall" )

Good luck

Claire :)

A list of non moulting dogs for you :

SOFT COATED WHEATEN TERRIER
BEDLINGTON TERRIER
POODLE
FOX TERRIER (WIRE)
YORKSHIRE TERRIER
PORTUGUESE WATER DOG
BICHON FRISE
MALTESE
AFGHAN HOUND
KERRY BLUE TERRIER
TIBETAN TERRIER

I would look into the various breeds and consider what size dog you want as well as the coat :) You should be able to find the various breeds and some notes on them here : Kennel Club (under Discover Dogs) and some breeders and club information here : Champdogs Guided Search
