Hello everyone, in desperate need of housetraining help. My 6 month Staff is perfectly trained at home, in fact we have only ever had 4 pees and no poos inside at home, at work this has been very different, as we thought it would be because there are so many doors etc. In the last 2 weeks he has got the hang of it and we are down to one pee if that inside a day, however the end of last week and this morning, he has decided that he will go to the door (which is normally open) and look outside, turn around come back in a pee, and this morning poo somewhere else in the office. This is obviously not good, and the worst part is that I have only a couple of days to get him round this or else he is not allowed back in the office...which means leaving him at home all day and getting a dog walker - which I would prefer not to do! any ideas???
I have tried pushing him out, but he insists on someone being their with him or he'll come back in and do his business. why has he started to do this?? does anyone know?
Incidentally, he does have too good walks during the day whilst we are at work.

You need to go back to the same technique you used at home - dogs don't generalise about situations and even 'sit' and other obedience moves need to be retaught under different circumstances for the 'lesson' to be learnt....

Did you ever 'introduce' him to his new outside surroundings?...i agree with Digger, i think he needs a bit of retraining, just the basic blueprint needs retracing ..... sounds like he is a bit unsure of where he is....i'm sure he'll be cool after a couple of times going out with you and you praising him getting it right. ;)

Digger and Sooz
Bobby has been coming to work with me for about 3 months now, and I am reqarding him with a treat when he goes outside (presuming that this is the best way, like we did at home) I just thought it was strange for him to revert back to doing his business wherever in the office, even though he does initially go to the door and poke his head out. It this quite common for Pups to just become unsure and revert back to infant puppy stage?
I think he is worse when everyone is in the office...maybe to many distractions on route to the door? thanks for the advice, I appreciate it (and so does Bobby! ;-))

You must have wonderful employers - I can't even imagine the look on my Manager's face if I asked to bring Kobi to the office ... although I might just test the water, just on the offchance!

I am very lucky indeed to be able to bring Bobby to work with me, and when my other half has the odd day off and Bobby stays at home, and I really miss him all day!
Well the good news is that today has been brilliant, and he has been such a good boy. Starting from scratch again has definately done the trick - yippeeee! :-)

Well I just thought I would let you know that he has been a super star form Tuesday onwards ;-)
We have had one little wee on route to the door and he held most of it until he was outside, but unfortunately a little escaped. But apart from that he has been spot on with going to the door and actually going outside to do his business.
Thank you everyone for the advice..my colleagues and I are happy again :-)

Glad to know it's all going well!
:)
