Topic Dog Boards / General / I got biten on the bottom
- By EMMA DANBURY [gb] Date 10.11.03 10:36 UTC
Whilst popping Bradleys halter on (bent over as you are) I shunted by a large black poddle who bit me on the bottom and then grabbed Bradley by the base of his tail and dragged him between my legs. Everytime I went to get this dog off it snarled and snapped at me. So poor bradley was pulled by his lead between my legs with the poodle attatched to his neck. So the poodle quite by accident had the rear of my boot in its head eventually let go. So I placed myself between Bradley and this dog which kept lunging at me until eventually we managed to back out of the park.
What did the owners do... um nothing.. apart from say 'if you don't want to get bitten don't own a boxer'
- By Lady Dazzle [gb] Date 10.11.03 10:51 UTC
Your first port of call should be the police station to report this incident and then I would suggest that you find out the name and address if possible of the owners of this poodle and inform the police of these details. You may find that they are not very interested but if you insist they must make out a report.

This is totally unacceptable behaviour by both the dog and the owners and they should be warned of this before a worse incident takes place. I shudder at the thought of if it had been a child in charge of a dog that this poodle attacked.

If you have bruises from the bite, then take pictures of them for evidence.

report it straight away, that is disgusting, what if youhad been a child and could not defend yourself. There is no such thing as a bad dog just bad owners, and to me this is one bad owner that has no thought about other people and there pets.

Hi Emma, how's your bum ? i cant believe some people , but you know its like some parents ,show me an out of control child, and moronic parents usually follow ,usually mumbling why do WE the parents always get the blame.!!.....ditto some dog owners !why do people decide to have either (animals or children ) and not be prepared to have to work at it, but i agree with the other posts, you should report the owners of the dog (poor thing what can you expect with owners like his !!) and what was the remark mean't to mean if you dont want to get bitten, dont have a boxer ? ?!! obviously a well informed morons view !! Hope your bum is ok !!.... Bye Sue & Lola xx p.s. may i suggest NOT putting your botty in anyones face (at least not too close !!) LOL xx

I agree with reporting it. But Im not sure about taking a picy of my bottom it have to be a wide angled lens. Ive got 3 teeth marks in my bottom and so has Bradley. We cuddled each other like frightened children when we got to safety. He checked my bottom and I checked his.
i think his pride was a little dented that he didn't protect his mum and he hid like a girl. But Im glad he didn't retaliate and create a much bigger situation.
A collegue said she would of let them get on with it, the only way Bradley will learn. But to me thats like watching a yound child take a beating in front of you and saying learnt anything.
- By Lady Dazzle [gb] Date 10.11.03 12:34 UTC
Emma if you have teeth marks then that is a serious bite, you must take a picture or at least go to the doctor so that you have a witness to the injury.

Emma report the incident to your local dog warden too.
Give as good as description as possible of the dog and owners.
The park or place where you were bitten and time etc. These irresponsible people
should be warned about their dogs unacceptable behaviour!!

It really winds me up when people just say stupid things like those people
did to you. I had an incident where two dogs were in aggressive postures
and making a bee-line for my two over the park where I walk my Boxers it was a misty morning, I got the
youngest at the time on the lead and was just about to put my hand on Trudi's collar
when one of the dogs launched in and tried to attack my 'pup' Trudi got inbetween
Misty and this dog and got bitten on her face (it drew blood). I got her on the lead
asap, and shouted to the lady walking her dogs (who made no attempt to put hers
on leads etc) your dog has bitten mine and drawn blood, to which she replied it was 50/50
and walked off no sorry etc etc. I rang the local Police station as I was fuming that
this irresponsible person had allowed this incident to happen.
Only now after a few more years of experience and information gleaned on these boards
do I know whom to report incidents to.
Don't let these people get away with it!
Also you don't want Bradley learning bad behaviour, and no don't let Bradley get into
thinking that fighting anything is OK to protect you. It will just give Bradley a bad name
around the park. If at all possible if there's a friendly poodle that you know try and introduce
Bradley to them and let him learn that not all these dogs are nasty. You also don't want him to turn into
a 'fear biter' because of this attack on him.
Boxers have long memories and they don't forget...as another of my friends Boxers was badly attacked
as a puppy and he now gets in first if he feels at all threatened.

I agree with everyone else Emma, report them :( That kind of behaviour is absurd. If you have teethmarks, it was obviously quite a serious bite and could have been much, much worse, especially if a child happens to come across this person, while walking their dog - they shouldn't be allowed to get away with it - These type of people give every dogowner a bad name. Don't let them get away with it.

Ive taken your advice and reported it. To the council/dog warden who is responsible for the park. Apparently its not the first report, he also seems to think they are not local. he has also advised me to tell as many park users as possible just to be careful. In fact he was very helpfull.
I will check with my Dr to ensure my tetnus jab is up to date. Im sure it is.
I think I was put out by the flippant boxer comment. To be honest though, I just wanted to get out of the park catch my breath and ensure both of us were ok. My partner was very angry and will be keeping a look out for them.
Ive put salt water on Bradleys bottom to keep it clean and ensuring he doesn't bother it to much. Is this ok?
- By pinklilies Date 10.11.03 13:02 UTC
dont be embarrassed about taking a pic, you can edit it to show just the bite...or go to your gp , who will write a witness statement, so avoiding need for pics! If it broke the skin, have you had tetanus jabs? please report it, in case its a child next time that gets bitten.
- By bulldogowner [gb] Date 10.11.03 13:04 UTC
Hello

Well that really is discusting behavior from the owners of the dog, and the comment that they passed afterwards, they are not fit to be in charge of a dog.
You really ought to report it, and go to the hospital or doctors to get checked out and cleaned up properly, if its broken the skin, please make sure that you are up to date with your Tetanus jabs.
So sorry to hear this.

Glad he got the boot cant imagen what would have happened if he wasent scared of by that:( never mind booting the dog the owner would have got a wack if they had of said that to me . bloody cheek we all know poodles can quite often be aggresive. and i suggest that you tell the police the owners were just standing there watching then tell them what they said .ive herd of ignoring badly behaved dogs but thats terrible.
- By perrodeagua [gb] Date 10.11.03 17:57 UTC
Report them definitely. If it was your own dogs fighting you cd. let them sort it out between themselves but not an unknown animal and by the sounds of it it went for you first!!! Take the photo's, have you had your dog to the vet, if not take him too and get some evidence.
- By mygirl [gb] Date 10.11.03 18:18 UTC
OMG What disgusting behaviour, i do hope you are ok.
Don't let it put you off going to the park though will you!

Not much to add except that i agree with everyone - and if the dog actually left teeth marks then it has little bite in hibition (as opposed to dogs who will make lots of noise but not actually take a real bite out of skin/flesh). Your colleague's remark shows his or her ignorance, what exactly is Bradley supposed to "learn" - how to fight? Not fair!!! :(

Sadly the dog may attack again and hurt other dogs and people - so i agree you were right to speak to dog warden etc.

Is he/she able to do anything?

HOpe you and poor Bradly are OK. What a nasty experience for you both.

hope you have a very, very soft cushion, what a thing to happen.I remember when our bitch was apuppy, this man let his 2 labs start harassing her,she was only young,so my husband threatened the man for not putting his dogs on the lead, next time we saw him he put them on straight away, hubby walked right up to him and said'JUST AS WELLMATE!!!',think that got through to him, give each other a good cuddle, sandra.

"OUCH" :(
- By Lorelei [gb] Date 11.11.03 13:35 UTC
What a horrible experience for you both. Good for you for reporting the blighters, and I hope they get a taste of their own medicine very soon. Fed up of irresponsible idiots frightening the life out of people and their dogs until any normal dog play is seen as an attack. Can the dog warden offer any other help in stopping these horrible people?
- By Shelly R [gb] Date 11.11.03 22:47 UTC
hiya

was just wondering what started it all? did the dog come from nowhere and bite you? if so you should go back over the park without bradley see if you can see these people again and tell them the dog has been reported, was your bite meant for bradley its important because its far more serious if the dog intended to bite you or was attacking your dog.Don't get me wrong its bad enough it attacked your dog it will have to be muzzled.
- By jolanta30 [gb] Date 12.11.03 20:23 UTC
What I want to know is what the heck was that boxer comment all about? Especially as it was a crazy POODLE that did the attacking!
Now I love poodles, and am very surprised to hear of it's behaviour - Just goes to show that the wrong kind of person owning ANY dog breed or X can change them into a nasty piece of work.
- By dizzy [gb] Date 12.11.03 20:36 UTC
there was a bloke used to walk 2 standards loose on cresswell beach-they attacked every dog they came across-----the owner was an idiot :(
