Wasn't albas oil another one?
I think i remember only leave your radio on if you normally have it on anyway because the dog will associate the radio with you going out.
Put him in a different room? or crate?
Sarah
Thankyou Sarah, I have not tried albas oil worth trying,
you could be right about the radio thing, although i have a radio in my kitchen i dont use it much,
no disrespect to people that use crates (no getting into a argument about them) but i would rather not use one,

Hi Heidi
I know what you mean about the crate, my husband didn't think it would be a good idea for our GSD Finn. However, we did get one the day after we brought him home. We have him sleep in it in our room at night, and he will often go in there himself to lie down will I get ready for work. I put the radio on quite a bit while I clean or do stuff, so when I leave for work I put him in the crate and put the radio. He is in there on his on for two hours until my husband comes home from work and he is fine.
Before I leave I also put some dried food and toys in there two and he is very happy.
I was advised to get a crate by a breeder who has had GSD for years and highly recommends them and so do I know.
Trust me it would be the best thing you could get.

If he is really desparate to chew, then nothing will stop him :( The only answer is to use a cage when you are out. Mine would chew something - anything (wood, plaster, floor tiles etc) even when I popped to the loo :( Fortunately she stopped when she was about a year old.
Daisy
Thankyou daisy, Toby is eight months so hopefully it wont be long till he stops chewing the cupboard, he only does it when i go out he never chews when im at home, he is very loving and when im at home 95% of his time he is by my side, cant bring myself to cage him,

Have to say, "Been there done that and got the cupboard door!" :)
Many years ago I was given a tip which really worked and that was hair spray! Sprayed on the place where the dog chewed and the dog would not chew it again in a hurry. I stress that was many years ago before CFC's were banned and I've not got a clue if the present hair sprays with their petroleum based propellant are any good at the job or not.
Regards, John

Don't you use hairspray any more then John? :( ;) :D

It will be difficult to stop I am afraid but think on the positive side. When he has stoppped the chewing stage you can get a new kitchen ! :)

My puppy has a 4x4 playpen, I use it when I'm out or cant watch him. It works out well for us.
