my mum's dog (a medium/small cross of something or other) is 7 and has arthritic spurs, has done for a few years, poor baby :( . she is on rimadyl but every so often, once a week or so, she refuses to eat in the morning, gets the most LOUD tummy grumbles, then she trots off to the garden for half an hour, eats a bunch of grass then comes and eats and the grumbles disappear. any ideas why these grumbles happen ? they really are loud, u can hear them from a few rooms away (with the doors closed !) :O

It could be a lot of bile and an empty stomach. Mine do the same every so often, first thing in the morning. Eat some grass, vomit up the bile, then they're ready for breakfast. If she has a biscuit as soon as you come down in the morning, that should be enough to sort it.

Hope this helps.

thanks for that, i'll tell my mum to try it, hopefully it will stop waking her up the whole neighbourhood :)
