Our 4 year old Rottie Male has started shown aggression towards
our children, and today he nipped one of my sons friends on the hand, for no reason, it did draw blood. Very concerned, is this a sign of things to come?
Should we get the dog put down? THe dog is very well behaved,
well trained and it would be a shame to lose him but I don't know
what to do
Hallo guest
Obviously you must be very concerned but there is not enough to go on to offer any advice - and offering advice re. aggression (if indeed it is that) is not a good idea over the net.
Dogs can become snappy because of a medical problem even if they seem quite well. It may also be that the dog finds boisterous children difficult (if they are exciteable). owner intervention can make things worse. I would advise a trip to the vet for a medical check up and then ask for referral to a reputable behaviourist. They are well used to dealing with aggression, biting dogs etc and may be able to help.
