I was wondering what you do around the wet and snowy season? My pup always comes back with mud all over his feet and hates the boots I got for him.

Hi Mini
We just keep a towel by the door and dry off our dogs paws as they come in, then brush out any residual dirt. When we have snow, which isn't that often, we make sure we thoroughly check the paws for impacted snow and get that out. If you find your pup isn't keen on its feet being "interfered" with, you could work on getting him used to you touching them for example by making it part of your cuddling sessions, just gently touching his feet at first and praising him or giving him a treat when he lets you do it. Once he is happy with that, you can move onto inspecting between the toes etc. We have one that would really be happier if we never touched his paws at all, but he has learned that it's a "necessary evil" :)
Hope this helps!

? boots, where did you get them from?
With our previous dog we did the same as Lesley, towel by the door, but sometimes Pepper was just too muddy,so my husband plumbed in a hot and cold tap to the outside of our conservatory and we bought a big bowl/bath,so we could stand her in nice warm water to clean her paws.So much easier than trying to clean the mud off with a dry towel! :) and also very good for the summer bath-times all the shaking was done outside.
Just hope our new puppy is as happy to have her foot-bath in the garden.

I used to get boots for one of my chows. He loved wearing them. They where silver I used to call them his dance shoes.
I got them him because he used to have tender pads. The only trouble he would wear holes in them after two walks.£9 a pair.
I have towels and towels and lots of towels to wipe mine.

Boots!!! Surely this is a wind up? Can you buy doggy boots? I can't imagine my dog wearing them although he didn't mind a coat.

Hi CG,
I bought some boots for my dog last year (and quite pricey they were too - about £28!). I only got them because I'd entered at a couple of breed shows which we were getting the train to - which wasn't a problem, but I figured if it rained on the day, we would have really dirty feet by the time we got to the station!
Hilda

They're brilliant to fit over bandaged feet, to keep the dressing clean and dry when you take the dog out for exercise.
:)
We got measures boots for Honey as she used to cut her pads on a regular basis, harsly use them now, but they are great for emergencies. We got ours from dogbootsactive.com She can even swim in them :)

Boots for dogs yes.
Don't laugh.
I got my Chang false nails. He had got arthritis in his front legs and he used to scrape his nails down to the quicks. It was painful for him.I asked for help on one of the chow sites and bingo someone sugested these nails.I sent to America for them and they helped him very much.
I did get him clear ones.Though I did consider getting him pink ones. They would have looked nice with his black coat.
