I have a few skirting boards and doorframes that have seen better days (dog chewing) and before i start sanding back and restoring, i want to ensure he isn't going to go straight back and do it again
I have given him new 'chew' toys to keep his mouth occupied, caught him in the act and told him off and put him to bed, ignored him...you name it...
So my next stage is to put something on the wood to give him a nasty shock when he tries to chew, i was told lemon juice, no he loves it :P
What else?
There is something called Bitter Apple and Bitter Bite that are supposed to deter chewers but these only work if the dogs don't like them.
You could also try those little bottles you get for flavouring cooking with rum, almond essence etc. I have some that hate the smell of whisky and would use that if they were chewers (would probably tape a small open container to the "affected" areas) Others don't like the smell of nail varnish or remover - I think it is smell more than taste that deters them as that is the sense they use first.
Good luck

Can understand what you're going through!
I have a 6 month old lab, who has been good as gold until recent days. He has my other lab to play with, and tones of toys but for some reason the skirting boards are tastier.
I'm interested to see what's suggested!

Hello. I clean all the skirting boards, cabinets, etc with some stuff called Orange Glo and my animals hate the smell and don't go near.

If you find a tack shop and ask for cribbox they will sell you a jar of stuff that tastes just yuk :( to prevent horses crib biting & its excellent for chewing dogs too.
Hi
I have found that spraying deodorant on the skirtings worked quite well, sounds odd I know but it was a good tip given to me. And it did make the house smell nice and my dog definately didn't like the taste. Good luck.

I bought a spray repellant from Pets at Home of natural oils, like lavender, rosemary, etc, no chemicals. Alfie really doesn't like it when it's been sprayed on something. Only drawback is that it needs re-applying quite often.

We have a 7 month old lurcher who started chewing her lead, we were advised by the vet to smear it with oil of cloves and it worked!
Good luck
