If the dam is black and white, but the sire is a tri-colour,would the puppies show their intended colours as early as 10-12days,or could they look black and white now and change as they get older?
I have no preference to the colour of my puppy, but I am curious as to how much their colours could alter in the coming months.
My previous dog a collie x ?something(the owners at the time did not know the sire but thought it was a lab),was all black but her mum was every colour but black! and as my dog got older she gradually became a black dog with a dark brown sheen and of course the 'grey white' twinges to her coat came through eventually.

Hi Gillian,
So far as I know one of the 3 bitches has a slight brown/black tinge at the base of her tail, but they all look very black and white at the moment.
I was just amazed that our first dog was all black from birth until about 10years old! and her own mum did not have the tiniest bit of black in her.
It's amazing how the genes develop.
Jacqueline.
