Just to let you all know your support has really helped and today is my 3rd clean air day. When I get desperate theres always my NRT nasal spray ( ouch!) and the house is full of chewing gum. Staying out with Morse all morning in the lovely golden autumn and only start craving when its time to face the housework. Its surprisingly tiring - bed by 9 - and headaches but will feel better soon. :)

Well done you!!! Congratulations on getting this far

Well done! Every one you don't have is an achievement to be proud of. And yes, it does eventually get easier!
:)

Stick with it ! You should be very proud of yourself :D

Ooo Lorelei, I am impressed!!! Good for you!!

Lesley, who knows she really should stop smoking, but keeps putting it of until tomorrow!
- By Lorelei [gb] Date 06.11.03 20:07 UTC
Lesley, I spent ages thinking about it and planning how to cope and it was time well spent. If you keep a smoking diary noting the time, what you were doing, how you felt and whether you enjoyed the fag, you may find as I did that most of the time you dont actually enjoy it, it dosent help you feel better and so the only thing keeping you smoking is fear of stopping! Today has been a rotten day actually with headaches, nearly crying for a fag and being very restless so Ive been in the bath a lot chanting " This is the worst day it will get better......and I can afford a Viszla in a smokeless month ..... and buy Morse a raincoat ......Itll be better tomorrow....":D Keep thinking about it and use the Maximus principle, it will work out.

Really well done - keep it up :D

Please stick with it a collegue went in for surgery for mouth cancer she has had the right side of her face reconstructed due to mouth cancer probably from smoking. She is in absolute agony as they have had to take a vain from her leg to put in her neck. Theyve taken skin from her arm to rebuild her tongue. They have also taken a bone from her arm to use as a jaw. To add insult to injury they have removed all her bottom teeth so the bone can grow.
Its heart breaking Im so pleased I quit in January. I know its hard, but its hard for our children to live without us when we die prematurely.

On a lighter note the weekend has landed, go and treat yourself to something, you really deserve it.

Thank you Lorelei, I'll give the smoking diary at try! I expect if I looked closely at my smoking habits it'll be true I don't enjoy most of them! And what with Emma's really sad story about her colleague, I should stop, I really should.

I've not stopped smoking, it's just 17 years between cigarettes. I still have a packet in my pocket and take them to work every day.

Stick with it Lorelei :)

Best wishes, John

Michelle:)
- By John [gb] Date 07.11.03 18:50 UTC
It's not will power Michelle, it's meanness! If I smoke this packet then i'll have to go out and buy another damn packet and that would let the Moths out of my wallet
- By Snoop Date 07.11.03 19:26 UTC
:-D @ John!
- By Lorelei [gb] Date 07.11.03 22:30 UTC
LOL at John ! Is it meanness or are you scared of setting your hair a-fire again? Funnily enough I have a packet " in case" too, but every time I think about it, I just distract myself and the urge fades:) C'mon Lesley, you can do it " That which does not kill us makes us sronger" & all that. My treat this weekend is to buy myself a book on tracking/nosework and get Gay Gottlieb's book on the Viszla from the library. Thanks for encouraging me everyone. :)

Don't have as much now as I did in those days Lorelei :(

Still, the older the fiddle the better the tune :D While youre here John, my daughter would like me to ask you if gundogs ever get shot by accident. She begged us not to train Morse to the gun because she was frightened of this happening. Thanks.
- By John [gb] Date 08.11.03 19:26 UTC
It is something which should never happen Lorelei. If it did then the gun would have to be very careless. We have a rule, "No ground game", In other words, only birds on the wing can be shot. We have beaters in front of the guns and pickers up behind so the only safe place to shoot is up. Even so, I draw the attention of the guns to me before they start shooting and if I move position I make sure they know. I left the line this afternoon to look for a wounded bird but before going I made sure that the wood was not going to be shot! Today the youngest person there was a 7 year old boy. There is a 15 year old girl who has been coming since she was 11 and the oldest was a 82 year old man.

I've seen plenty of accidents, cuts and bruises caused by Blackthorn and fence wire, but that’s all thank goodness.

Best wishes, John

Did you read that book I suggested??? its really EASY with that, no need for will power, patches, gum OR crying for fags, you just DON'T want one...Really

Geoff:)

Hello chums, I have had a wee relapse which was entirely my own fault, ( found a secret stash) but I am still going for it. It is getting easier. Geoff, I am ashamed to say I have not bought the book yet, but I am going to the shops next week and will ensure it comes back to Bedlam with me. The benefits are so clear. :D
