I have just bought a Cavalier King Charles bitch who is 1 year old.

She is quite smelly. I have given her a bath using a dog shampoo but it doesnt seem to hvae worked.

Can you suggest any really good products.

When you say "smelly" could you be more specific? Is it her fur?....or is it her skin? Does she have a skin condition (perhaps you havent yet noticed it)? If this is the case, then normal dog shampoo wont do anything. You would need to get something like Malaseb.

What about her teeth? Sometimes its hard to pinpoint where the smell is coming from, does she have bad teeth (yes it is very possible at this age).

There may be a valid reason as to why the shampoo is not working (or try a different brand).

Check her ears too......surprising how bad they can smell if infected.

And also check the crease in the lower lips at the side of the mouth. Sometimes this can get infected and the smell is horrendous, my friends cocker had this and the smell is something else.

Is she scooting along on her bottom sometimes the anal glands get blocked and when they scoot along it helps to release a really awful fishy smell. If they are blocked your vet will be able to squeeze them and clear them out. Scooting along on their bottoms does not mean they have worms.

my dog has those signs she has a fishy smell coming from her and scoots her bum along the floor,so i will need an appointment with the vet then.
