i have a very thin boxer bithch who we have rehomed from a local breeder. she had puppies back in april o3 and is pitifully thin(a bag of bones). her coat is in good condition with a nice sheen and she is healthy otherwise. she is a small bitch weight is 22kg and is currently fed on burns dried food. desperate! no e-mail address but posted advice on this site would be really appriciated...

Get a vet to give her the once over just to make sure she is ok and then worm her. Change her diet over onto tripe and a mixer biscuit :-)

You could be using dried lung or suchlike as treats to help suppliment her feeds.
Does she enjoy her food? It could be that she can't smell it and therefore doesn't enjoy it much.
I agree with admin, worm her and get to the vets for a quick checkup. Let us know how she gets on.
Burns dried food can keep them on the lean side (my friend found this when feeding
her Boxers Burns)
Take her to the vet to make sure that there aren't any other health issues that
could be causing her to be lean.
I feed my two Boxer bitches Nutro or Burns complete food.
If you want to try the Chicken and Rice Nutro that will put some weight back
on her (my two get fat on the chicken and rice Nutro) the lamb and rice version
is good for keeping my two at what I consider optimum weight for them.
I have heard that the Venison burns food is supposed to be very good too.
Both my Boxers weights vary as they are slightly different builds - my youngest one
varies from 28-32 kilos depending on how fat she gets. She also is a very tall bitch coming
in at the top of the height range.
Whereas her mother is 22 inches tall and varies between 23-28 kilos in weight depending on
how lean or podgy she gets....if they've had far too many treats etc etc.
As long as you can't see her 'pins' or hip bones on her back I shouldn't worry too much.
Some Boxers are always leaner than others and tend to take along time to fill out and body up.
I have known some to take til they are 3 y.o. + to body-up.
My bitch looked in good weight condition 12-16 weeks after having her litter and then suddenly got a porker.
She is slightly heavier at the moment but probably 'normal' range for a pet Boxer.
I show mine and keep them slightly lighter in weight but not so you can see every rib!
Your vet will also advise if he feels she is underweight for her size and build.
