Topic Dog Boards / Health / Antiseptic cream?

Hi ALL

You may remember i had my girl spayed 4 1/2 weeks ago. The stitches have finally come out but she has a very small pink lump at one end of the scar. I dont want to panic to much as i am sure my vet already thinks i am nurotic, It looks like a bite possibly (or how a bite would look on us anyway) So i was wondering if i could put any human antiseptic on it for a day or so to see if it helps before seeing the vet,

Brinny

Edited tosay- it does not actually look infected (yellowish) just pink

I expect it is the end of the stitching; it will absorb eventually. No need to put any antiseptic cream on it if the skin is not broken. Vit E capsules and/or Aloe Vera Gel can speed up scar removal/hair growth.

Yes I agree with tohme. You can pierce the vit E capsule & use it direct on the scar. You can also use aloe straight from the plant fresh if you have one. :)

You can get them from the health store. The natural ones are wheatgerm & the other are man made, not sure if you can get pet ones I use the human ones. Sometimes I use the man made when can`t get the wheatgerm ones, but both will work.

You can get the pure wheatgerm oil, which is suitable for dogs

Yes it is Vitamin E; wheatgerm capsules are an alternative as they are high in Vitamin E. Get from supermarket, Holland & Barrett etc.

I never knew that Vit e helped the scaring. Boy I wish I had of known that earlier this year my puppy Alley hurt her shoulder and she has a scar on it. Do you think it would be too late to try it?
I have a bottle in the cupboard as my bitch is on it as it is supposed to help with fertility. Got it from Dorwest. What would I do with out this company :D
I know also that you must not over feed in into pregnancy as it can damage pups. I think it says on the leaflet to stop at 2-3 weeks, then I can start with the raspberry leaf tablets at 3 weeks.

Yes, I agree, Aloe Vera and vitamin E are good for scar tissue. It's not too late to use the Vit E, Nutkin, it can help after the scar tissue has already formed. :)
