Hi
well we are back from liverpool university vet hospital now. I took my three legged lab there because there was a problem with her one remaining back leg. Well as suspected she had cruciate (sp) ligament (torn) and the cartalige was flapping about causing her alot of pain. After a long examination it was decided the best option for her would be keyhole surgery to remove the cartalidge and fit a artificial ligament. This was done the same day but due to her circumstances they did not want to release her right away but to play it by ear, so we ended being up there 4 days in the end. She is home with us now and we have to have strict cage/indoor rest for 8 weeks though we have to swim aftert 4 weeks. Thought that would be easy being as she is 11 and has three legs, huh was I ever wrong it is a nightmare trying to keep her still i have now told everyone they have to phone me before they come round do not knock on the door and I have disconected the door bell!! The slightest hint of someone else around and she is off like a lunatic to greet them!!! Even ina crate she bounces around in excitement!! But in one way it is nice to see she is still the bouncy happy dog she has always been. So looks like it is going to be a long long 8 weeks, only thing I am sad about it I will have to miss my sisters wedding on the mainland, its in three weeks and I would have to stay with her and she has 2 labs, my brother would also be there with his springer, and niece with her lab x, sooooo not sure it is worth the risk after all this, will have to see if I can work anything out.

One thing I have to say is that I have to give it to my 16 week lab puppy whom \i had to take to liverpool with me and stay in the hotel room with us, she was amazing so good and clean the whole time bless her. And she must have been bored out of her mind alot of the time.

Thankyou for all your well wishes and help before we went, liverpool has so many traffic lights and so few signs lol

Hi Ebony,
Oh it's good to have you back with good news! I've been wondering how you got on. She must be much happier now if she's wanting to bound around!
Is there no-one who could look after her while you went to the wedding? If it's not for 3 weeks she might have settled a bit by then and you possibly wouldn't have started the swimming either.

Give her a hug from me for bravery (and one for the pup for being a good girl). :D

Hi yes she is feeling so much better i am so very pleased, she has been through so much and was so worried it would not work for her this time. No everyone I would happily leave her with is going to the wedding, it makes it more difficult because it is off the island, if it was here then I could just leave her at home for a short while but as she is doing so well maybe I will see if we can take her and find somewhere she can stay alone away from the other dogs whilst i am at the wedding and keep popping back to see if she is ok.

So glad she`s recovering well Ebony :)
I take it you got lost in L/pool then, not to worry I do that quite often & last time I was driving there went down a one way street the wrong way!!
Improtant thing is you managed to find your way there & back :D

LOL did I ever get lost in liverpool took me over an hour to find the hotel and it was only 2 miles from the motorway!! Very few signs to the centre, but got there eventually and found the vets easier than i thought after that. But main thing is we went and she is doing well so will not worry about getting lost (grin)

Hi Ebony

Good to hear that the op went well and that the patient is full of beans :D
If you just take a day at a time, the 8 weeks will pass eventually and you'll soon be able to resume normal life again !

I know what you mean about the traffic lights. I used to visit family a few miles from the Mersey Tunnel but had to cross 21 sets of lights to get there ! Of course if the first set are red......

Oh dear Ebony, I think I`ve just got used to the lights now!! Remember the first I drove back in L/pool I kept going thru them while on red & everyone screaming at me to stop & me saying where why what happened a few ft after the lights!!!! Used to go straight across instead of round those weird mini roundabouts in middle of the road as well & everyone saying you`re supposed to go round them & me saying go round what??
No, really so glad alls looking well for her & you never know things might turn out that you can go to the wedding after all :)

ps we always get lost everywhere we go!!!

Oh Christine, you make me laugh. :D
Yes, those mini ones are a pain and if your'e lost and need to go back the way you came, you need one of those railway turntable thingys!

Ebony, how are things going?
