Hi I have a 15 month old adorable golden male retriever, that wants to fight nearly every dog he meets.
Any suggestions ;

If you can find out *why* he's doing it, you might have a bit more success with training him out of it.......

Is he castrated? Was he well socialised with other dogs of both sexes as a pup? At what age did he leave his Mum? Has he had any bad experiences with other dogs during his growing up? Is he worse on lead or off?

when my last dog reached about that age (we lost him a few months back) he went through that phase he would charge in head first without even thinking about it, we did'nt get him castrated and he eventually mellowed instead of fighting he kept his distance from other males although if one challenged him there would be a bit of a to do ,it always sounded much worse than it was i found walking away would always bring the fight to an end, shouting and trying to stop it made it much worse. i got a bitch this time and the problem i have now on a walk is that every male dog wants to mount her so its one extreme to the other!!
