Hi,

My lab who is nearly two has suddenly over the past few weeks started weeing and pooing inside.

I don't know what to do, we tell her she's been naughty and I've bleached and disinfected but she still does it?

Where have we gone wrong, why would she suddenly starting doing this, she was very good has a pup.

I'm assuming its Sophie and not Cara because I've see Cara doing it outside and when been on walks.

Any advice appreciated.

Caz

Fireworks have a lot to answer for - and could be the reason behind this change in behaviour. Be careful what disinfectant you are using, and restrain from expressing your displeasure as this will add to her stress, making her more likely to do it (or even to try and remove the evidence by eating it, which I'm sure you don't want)

Thanks, never thought of fireworks. My mums dog is petrified of them and actually shows she is. Could Sophie be frightened without actually showing it. When were out and about she doesn't seem frightened and just continues with whatever she's doing.

I saw in another posting someone mentioning washing powder for cleaning up so I'm going to give this a try.

Understand what you mean about telling her off, we used to go obedience classes when they were younger and they said telling them off sometimes makes them worse.

Think were going to try treats when she does it outside and no treats when does it inside. Do you think this will work?

I had a problem with pooing on the stairs, the behaviourist lotd us it was a dominance thing the hight was the dog showing its position in the pack. Stair gates and a bit more training sorted it out.
Could be a bit of dominance rivalry????

Miasmum,

Could be dominance, she is the more dominant dog and lately she is being defiant and totally ignoring us when we call her back or tell her no etc, etc.

Thinking in terms of training going back to basics.

Thanks, will go and mention this to partner, have a feeling he will agree with dominance suggestion.
