Is it possible for dogs to have constipation? Mine seems perfectly healthy, eating fine, drinking, lively, sleeps OK but when I take him out, he hardly seems to have anything coming out the other end. He squats and seems to strain but only a very small amount of waste comes out. Tonight, it almost seemed like water that was coming out after he had done a small amount. He honestly doesn't seem at all unwell in any way but he wasn't like this say a few days ago. This has been going on for about 3 days. I will take him to the vet if it doesn't improve soon but I wondered if there were any remedies that I could try first?

Hi you could try adding some bran to his food or giving him a small dose of liquid parrafin .Gillian

Thanks! I did think of a bowl of all bran for breakfast might do the trick but maybe I'll just sprinkle some into his food and see if it helps. If not, off to the vets for him. Incidentally, he eats tons of grass when he's out - don't know if that has anything to do with it.

He could have just picked up a wee tummy bug. Its just like us, something like a 2 day bout of the trots and then we're fine. Just a thought.

Happy to report all normal without resorting to vets. I'm a born worrier I think!! Handful of all bran on the food seems to have done the trick.
