i have a 10 month pup who,s having a phantom pregnacy at 6 months she had a season and another 3 months later neither were very noticeable but last week wich was her last week one set of her teats were swollen either side.I,ve had her to the vets he gave her Glavastop and antibiotics. One week later no change.I,m putting epsom salts in her water only a small amount.Any sugestions to help as she,s entered at crufts in 4 weeks?

sorry to be a pain but i had one the same, she was so hard to get in the ring as it was first the season ,so she was out, then her phantom, out again, then her coat would drop out, not too long after that she would be back in season--on the brighter side ive heard swimming can help tighten them up- good luck

Old fashioned remedies for loose under carraige- taken from Jane Lilley's column in Dog World Feb 1st:

Rub tummy with camphorated oil for 10 minutes every day .

Swimming, ideally in the sea ( good rinse afterwards), and running along the water line so the sea water splashes up onto her tummy

take 2 large sprigs of mint, a large lettuce leaf, just cover with boiling water, cool, Strain and bathe tummy twice a day.

The only other thing I can suggest is to try homeopathy. If you go to www.ainsworths.com ( it may be co.uk - sorry not certain which) you can phone or e mail them and they will suggest a remedy which will do her absolutely no harm and may work. Homeopathic remedies can almost always be given together with any vets treatment - though I'd tell Ainsworths what she had had in the way of prescription drugs from the vet . I am not suggesting that you stop the vets treatment but give to her a homeopathic remedy as well. The tablets are not expensive and they will send them quickly. Tell them about all her symptoms as well as the fact that you need a "coat" on her quickly too!! It really is worth a try - sometimes homeopathic remedies will work very quickly. It even may be possible to regulate her seasons and prevent future phantoms too. I have found that the supplement "Restore", from Stock Nutrition is very good for growing coats! Good luck, hope you make it to Crufts.

So it seems to have worked -great to hear that the problem has gone - out of interest did you give her Sepia or Pulsatilla, or did you mean that the vets medicine had worked? Bet you are glad you didn't need eye of toad or wing of bat!! :-)
