Hi

Me too:D

What dog do you have?

Michelle:)
- By bulldogowner [gb] Date 30.10.03 14:54 UTC
Hello

I have 15 dogs mostly bull breeds (Bulldogs and Bullmastiffs) , which is a lot to some people but normality for me and my daughter , we have a few crossbreeds too , and a Rodisian Ridgeback that could never leave the confines of the farm we live on.
We have other animals as well , Veronica our pot bellied pig who is currently snoring in the kitchen !
Life wouldnt be worth living without the wonderful creatures that we have around us.

Hi Dean:)

I am so jealous not only do you have lots of dogs but a pot bellied pig!! they are my fave. It sounds like you have lots to keep you busy! . I have got just the one dog a black lab called Jazz but I wouldnt be without him. I would love to have a houseful of dogs but the problem is I would have trouble picking which breeds.

Michelle:)

Mine are all dalmatians, Michelle - mum and pups from various litters. (I made enquiries the other day about a particular litter I heard of - just about the perfect bloodline for what I want but all the bitches were sold. Probably just as well!)

Three staffords at the moment, thats enough to try and keep my eye on whilst they charge around the woods, but I must admit one more would balance out the walking on the lead problem, left arm is slightly longer than the right :)

Hi gundogsrbest, one of my CKCS was called Toby, he was a Tri colour, stunning looking dog, he unfortunatly died when he was eight. What colour is yours.
- By Snoop Date 30.10.03 19:07 UTC
Hi, I've only got 1 at the mo. I would love a companion for him one day but would ideally like an older dog but I don't think the rescue places will consider us as I have young children. It may have to wait a bit :-(
- By BullBoy [gb] Date 30.10.03 19:11 UTC
I dont see why rescue centres wouldnt consider you, if you found a older dog that had lived with children their would be no problem, if you look about im sure you would get hold of a lovely companion for your dog.
- By kath_barr [gb] Date 31.10.03 08:31 UTC
There are lots of older dogs in rescues who will love children, so don't let that put you off. The right dog is just waiting for you to come along. :D I have only one at the moment too and would love another but how do you pursuade a husband when he keeps changing the subject? :(

Kath.
- By mason [gb] Date 04.11.03 13:20 UTC
Hi all, what a lot of dogs some of you have! :D I have three one goldie and two flatties, I was just wondering what sort of houses you all have because although I own my own house I have heard that our council have rules and regulations on how many dogs can be kept in one house. where I am it is a max of 4 dogs, so I have been told. Do you have to have some sort of licence for more dogs or some sort of inspection to make sure that you have enough room for them all, just curious as I would like to get just one more :D Sarah
- By kath_barr [gb] Date 04.11.03 13:40 UTC
Hi Sarah,
I would imagine that different councils have different by-laws so might be best to check with them. Probably any inspection or licence would be for businesses but there again, I'm not sure. We live in a big old farmhouse so have room for lots more dogs (big hint to husband! ;) )

Kath :)
- By mason [gb] Date 04.11.03 14:24 UTC
Thanks Kath, Id love to live in the country, been a townie all my life but have had enough now and want more of a quiet life if thats possible. There must be some sort of law, whats to stop someone in a 2 up 2 down terrace having 10 dogs surely this should not be allowed. I live in a terraced house, but it is very large, built 100 years ago with huge downstairs rooms and five bedrooms and has 120ft garden, loads of room for the three I have got. How would the council know how many dogs I have got unless someone complained, I could have 20, as long as they were well looked after and kept in clean conditions, so no one complained they would never know!! Are you classed as a business, even if you are not breeding? or making any money from your dogs in anyway. If I had 20 dogs would I be classed as a rescue maybe? I dont know!! so many questions! I just think its a shame when you read some awful stories about to many dogs being found in bad dirty conditions and the people being taken to court for keeping dogs like this when there seems to be nothing stopping people having this many animals in their houses in the first place. I am not having a go at anyone as I know all of you on this site are genuine dog lovers and look after your dogs how they should be looked after but what is stopping all the people out there that need educating and just bite of more than they can chew, with christmas just around the corner I find it quite worrying. :( Sarah

Hi Mason...you might as well buy a kennel or open one then you'll be all set...lol I have 2, a Lab and a Weimie both relatively young the Lab
is 10 months and the Weimie is 4 months still pups but please don't ask me what color they are because the color issue has finally been abandoned in earlier postings......boy that was a tough tough issue!!!!however if you would like me to send you pictures of my two boys
I'll be more than glad to do so then you'll have an idea to why the color issue was a tough one to swallow!!!!man ho man...

Sincerely
Vic

toby is a tricolour as well, a cavalier wasnt my choice of breed, i prefer big dogs to the smaller breeds, but toby used to belong to my nan, one day she asked me to come round to clip his nails and trim his toe hair as she couldnt get him to the groomers, when my mum and me got there we was disgusted to see how much weight he had put on in a year, ( ive known toby since he was 6 months as he belong to my boss, my nan bought him off of my boss, when it was discovered that he had a severe heart murmur and couldnt be used for stud, and then started fighting with the new dog she bought as stud [ckcs were inthe house and gundogs in the kennels] so my nan bought toby off my boss) my nan had him for two years from the age of 18 mths, but in the second year she had him we hadnt seen him that much, he was so fat all you could see of his legs was about two inches, (he was eating the same as tess and our ess at the time plus extra in the form of trests) he was spolit rotten he even had his own setting up the table, he came to us nearly two years ago when we said we would look after him while my nan was on holiday in a year he lost 6 kilos and is now at his right weight, he never went back to my nan mainly because he liked the company of our two, we think it was a bit of a shock to him when he first came to live with us as he couldnt have full run of the house and he had less food and he was run ragged by tess and polly. My nan now has a westie x either a shih tzu or a lhaso (can never remember which think it is a lhaso) he is now on a strict diet and comes for walks to the woods and lake with my three,

I've got 4 SPanish Water Dogs although my young lad is at his grandma's at the moment because the girls are in season. I know that if I had a bigger place I'd have loads of Spanish but as I live on my own and work full time 4 is more than enough, unfortunately!!!
- By Brainless [gb] Date 30.10.03 19:49 UTC

Hi, I have 8 Labs with the eldest 9yrs to the youngest 2yrs 5mths. 1mongrel aged 9yrs & a rescue GSD aged about 4/5yrs. 1 cat about 4& half yrs, 14 hens & 1 bantam cockral. Loads of univited moles, shrews, mongooses & flocks of gorgeous coloured birds that come & go when they please but it would please me more if they wouldn`t use my dogs kennels as their nests of a nighttime! :D We`ve got about 20acres so enough room for all of us :)

Hi All

After reading how many dogs people have I am so jealous. I am getting my beagle pup soon, and mayb 9n a year or so we might get him a little beagle friend.

My dream is to live in North Wales (my husband is from N Wales and my family are there too - Colwyn bay area) and have a big welsh cottage loads of lands and to be able to have a pack of five beagles and to take loads of walks on the beach with my babies and maybe to breed them and give the pups to people who will love and adore them. Got to win the lottery first or wait for hubby to retire.

You lucky lot having so many dogs,I would give my right arm to have lots of "fluffy" children.
- By britney1000 Date 02.11.03 23:22 UTC
We have 2 Bordeaux at the moment, 2 Tibetan Mastiiff's another one on it's way through pet's passport. 2 Newfoundlands one black one Landseer, 1 Yorky, and a tibetan Spaniel, 2 gerbils,1 hampser and 2 cats and if I had my way a lot more, when we breed the bordeaux I want to be able to keep a puppy but that will not be for another 7 month, but I would love a long coat akita althou a know they are not to standard but they look live fluffy little bears
